Growing up in the wooded foothills of Appalachia, in a small house tucked away from the bustling city that has since been demolished to make way for urban sprawl, I heard the folk tales and ghost stories passed down in my family. Something about the stories have always stuck with me, and ever since I have found myself reading Southern Gothic fiction and writing stories within similar veins.
Not all of the stories in this series are traditional “horror” per se, but each explores a different facet of the human heart from a perspective that is definitively outside the bounds of the warm and fuzzy.
